Meet Jodi Bader

Owner & Principal Designer

I’ve always been fascinated by the way people emotionally respond to a space. During my ten years as a Realtor in Southern California’s South Bay, I watched buyers walk into homes and make decisions almost instantly. The homes that stayed with them weren’t always the biggest or the most updated. They were the ones that felt inviting, welcoming, and easy to picture themselves living in.

That understanding became the foundation for the work I do today. In 2008, I founded First Impression Design™ with the belief that thoughtful design should do more than make a space look beautiful. It should help buyers connect, help guests feel excited to stay, and help homeowners walk into a room and finally feel like everything works together the way they hoped it would.

Bright dining area with a white marble table set with three woven baskets containing black polka-dot cloth napkins and small succulent plants.
Modern staircase with light wooden steps, black metal railing, and white walls. Decor includes framed wooden wall art, a tall potted plant with large green leaves, and a seating area with pillows.

Nearly two decades later, I still approach every project through both a design and real estate lens. Every recommendation is intentional and shaped around the buyer, the price point, the location, and the way the space is meant to feel. A coastal condo for young professionals should tell a completely different story than a family home where buyers are imagining backpacks by the door and movie nights stretched across the sectional.

What I love most about this work is seeing the shift that happens when a space finally feels right. Sometimes that looks like a homeowner standing in their living room saying it finally feels like them. Other times it’s helping a Realtor create a listing buyers can’t stop thinking about after the showing ends. At the heart of every project is the same goal: creating spaces that feel warm, lived in, and memorable from the moment someone walks through the door.

"She's my secret sauce to getting listings sold."
